Barcelona Day 12, 6th September 2013

Up Madridood time this morning and after brekky in the apartment we walked to la Sagrada Familia, the Cathedral the whole world knows. It was not a good start as we had to line up for tickets for an hour before entry and then after the self guided tour it was another 30 minute wait in the heat to catch the hop on hop off bus to go the the next stop. Not happy Jan, as hot, lots of unhappy people and not friendly staff. NOT liking Barcelona.
Got off at the next stop, the Park Guell, as per the Sagrada Familia, designed by Gaudi and spent a couple of very hot but enjoyable hours walking the gardens. Really lovely but too many people around, seems like all of Russia is here today, so after the museum we headed down the hill to catch the bus. Bugger another bloody long line in the sun with pretty long legged young things continually trying to queue jump. REALLY not liking Barcelona now.  Cut our plans short and when finally on the bus, just took a ride around until we got back to the city for an iced coffee and cake.
Things started to look up now as we accidently walked into the very old 'Gothic' area which was a lot more to our liking and after me getting us lost a couple of times we finally made it to the Picasso museum. Really good and well worth the trials of the rest of the day. Finally gave up on the stupid bus and just caught the metro back,to the hotel. Easy as.
Little walk to a  local tapas bar where we had a lovely meal, except for the blood sausage which neither of us enjoyed but the rest was good and the young guy serving, probably son who spoke no English but was SO obliging, them back to the room for a well deserved rest, after a couple of Vino's, of course. ;-)
Oh well hopefully Barcelona is better tomorrow.
