The train as usual left on time and we were in our allocated seats with the two guys with a sausage dog behind us (very well behaved the whole trip). We had our menu and both ordered the full breakfast, as this was apparently the Breakfast train, not the lunch train. Breakfast was continued to be served until after 12 as people boarded further up the line. Breakfast was delivered efficiently and consisted of bacon, sausage, hash brown, beans, fried egg and of course black pudding. Very nice indeed and we settled back into our journey.
It was an excellent trip and other than a 15 minute stop at Berwick upon Tweed while someone checked a report of an object on the line to be cleared, it went seamlessly. Passing through the towns of Durham, York and Newcastle ( love all the bridges across the Tynne) and some smaller ones makes me want to return and visit these as well 😂
Got to Waverley station only 25 minutes late and quickly off, into a cab and onto Europcar at Leith to pick up our Italian stallion. It was then onto our next accommodation in Larbert, just outside of Edinburgh and catch up with Isabel for two nights. With some road blocks etc it took close to an hour but finally got here and lovely to see our daughter again.
We popped down to the local Sainsbury's to get some things for me to cook for dinner, and some beer and wine of course.
Had an enjoyable dinner and catchup hearing of all Isabel's travels over the last four months. Long day so off to bed ready for another day and another adventure.
