Europe 2023 August 26th Day 23 - Glasgow to Lisbon

Bloody awake at 3.15, 4.00, 4.30 and finally gave up trying to go back to sleep at 5am. Always an issue when you set the alarm for 6am as you don't want to miss it and sleep in. Made us a coffee and repacked for the journey before we wandered downstairs for our pre-booked 7.15am taxi to the airport.
Was only 25 minutes and we were there, so unable to book luggage in yet so we had a little bit to eat and coffee (I'm sure it's not coffee 😂) at Starbucks. First and hopefully last one this trip. While Jane had a croissant I had a ham and cheese toastie, and I must admit it was damn good.
Finally booked in through customs to await our Easyjet flight. Process was simple and efficient as was our last Easyjet flight, so much unlike a lot of people I have no hesitation flying them. Took off on time for our 3 hour flight to Lisbon and other than the guy next to Jane spilling his beer on her pants, it was a pleasant flight.
A light rough landing into Lisbon, as a strong crosswind, through customs quickly with the passport autoscan and down to the luggage collection. Had to wait a little longer for mine after Janes arrived, but straight out and to the taxi rank. All lined up neatly and very efficiently into the cab and on our way to the My Story Tejo hotel in approx 20 minutes. Our room wasn't ready yet as only 1.30pm, so we dumped our bags in storage and headed out to acquaint ourselves with the city. We were staying about five shops from the Praca da Figueira square, excellent location and so just once again walked around, had a pizza for lunch and checked out the Yellow Bus tickets and had a gander at this lovely city.
It was nearly 4pm by the time we got back to the hotel and booked in, so time for a little afternoon nap. Jane was now not feeling well at all with the stomach complaint returning, so she just lay while I went out again to explore a different part of the old city, the Pena and Santra Cruz precincts. Found a funicular, Ascensor do Lavra and took some photos, while walking to the top with the intention of catching it back down and of course it was its last trip for the day, so no go this time.
End up winding my way back to the room via a park with music event happening and lots of odd little streets and laneways. Got  back a bit after 8pm after stopping at the little supermarket next door for a couple beers and a bottle of red and found my favourite cheese crackers Tuc. One of those great little supermarkets in Europe, narrow and deep containing everything from water , essential food items, every form of alcohol to plumbing supplies. Jane didn't want dinner and I wasn't hungry so had a couple of crackers and the liquids while watching some TV before retiring for the night.
