Up at 7 and of to train station to head to Barcelona. Had brekky at the station which was actually good, nice coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice along with 1/2 tosta , tomato and olive oil. Good start to the day.
Train is such an excellent mode of transport, we both enjoy it and its comfortable, spacious and quick, much more enjoyable than the plane and you get to see the countryside change as you progress from region to region. Even get to hit 300 kmph.:-)
The Spanish seem to have the goods on renewable energy with so many wind farms dotted around the country and even solar panel 'farms', whole hillsides covered with panels. From a distance you think its greenhouses occupying the hillside.
Arrived in Barcelona in the afternoon and after an interesting book in procedure for our apartment via a kiosk as unattended place, we jumped on the Metro and high tailed it into the city proper.
Visited the ,markets and waterfront, even going to the top of the Mirador De Colon to take in the views of the city and port. Then walked around for the rest of the arvo/evening, enjoying some tapas before returning to the apartment to have some vino and sherry before retiring for the evening.
The rants and ravings of a guy who has a love of Tasmania, golf, wine, food and photography. My wife Jane is an amazing textile artist/quilter (http://quiltingjane.blogspot.com.au/ ) and we have two great kids who one day will leave home, hopefully.
