Today is Lazy day, knowing full well that Paris is going to be hectic. Started by packing and then off around the old city and a ride on the tram to the end of the line across the river and back. Not a tourist thing to do as just between the city and the burbs. Even finally had a decent coffee in France at little corner cafe full of non English speaking people (funny that :-) , would have to be on the last day. Went to lovely market and bought some bread, cheese, ham and fruit for lunch before collecting luggage from hotel and off to train station.
Its a little 5 minute trip from Tours to St Pierre des Corps where you change to the Train to Paris. There was one to Strasbourg Jane thought she might like to take due to quilt show nearby but she did decide to come to Paris with me. Bugger. Trains are funny in that you are assigned a seat in First and second class but people still seem to sit where they want unless pushed to move, you can all understand how frustrated Jane gets when this occurs. Know I should have bought that ticket to Strasbourg :-)
Arrived in Paris to grey, DAMN cold day, top of 16. Easily got to hotel near St Lazare where dumped everything before hitting the pavement for a warm coffee. Its bloody colder here than Hobart in winter !!!!!!! Off on the hop on hop off bus but had to stop and go buy both of us a coat as just too cold, really loving Spain now.:-)
Then the rain came down so pulled up stumps and back to hotel for little break. Realized it was time for dinner as it was already 8 pm, did I mention daylight savings again QLD. Nice meal and champagne for first night in Paris along with Torraine red, really enjoying this appellation, will have to find some when we get back. Then decided to walk to Arc De Triumph as no raining, YET... Bit of rain along the way and back but was nice to see lit up at night. Back to hotel as 11pm, so much for the Lazy day.
The rants and ravings of a guy who has a love of Tasmania, golf, wine, food and photography. My wife Jane is an amazing textile artist/quilter (http://quiltingjane.blogspot.com.au/ ) and we have two great kids who one day will leave home, hopefully.
