Well its an early start this morning, getting up at 5.15 so we can be collected by bus at 6.20 to travel to Granada and visit The Alhambra. Grace and Manuel were our guide and driver and were lovely and helpful the whole day. Grace is Mexican and been in Spain for 4 years and even though she spoke 'spanish' she says it wasn't till she arrived here that she realised she spoke Mexican and the number of differences between both forms.
3 hours trip with comfort break and brekky before arriving at The Alhambra. Incredible buildings, views and gardens, a must do if in Spain. Good old Fernando and Isabel defeated this last Muslim outpost in 1492 and converted to Christianity. However many of the buildings survive and the original garden is still in place due to the exceptional aqueducts installed. As it is on top of the hill in Granada (Spanish for pomegranate, see photos) amazing views of city.
Followed this tour with walk of old city before tapas and cirveza (of course) for a late lunch. Back to Seville and in hotel at 7.30pm. Little rest and post yesterday's blog before wandering out and about at 9 for tapas and vino.
Finished the night with glass of my birthday present sherry, which was magnificent. Its midnight so adios.
The rants and ravings of a guy who has a love of Tasmania, golf, wine, food and photography. My wife Jane is an amazing textile artist/quilter (http://quiltingjane.blogspot.com.au/ ) and we have two great kids who one day will leave home, hopefully.
