Lazy start to today thanks to a late night and maybe that last glass of sherry. After relaxing breakfast was off by hoof again to the Real Alcazar De Sevilla, the Royal Palace ( oldest still in use in Europe ) still used today by the Royal family when staying in Seville. It was built ( read commenced) in the tenth century and has been added to continually. Heaps of history and art combined in a beautiful complex rivaling Alhambra, that is surrounded by exquisite gardens all within a walled complex.
The photos will show both the detail in the tiles, ceilings and walls. I am still getting my head around the fine detail in all these buildings we visit and the craftsmanship that was involved to produce them. Can't see it being done today. We spent over 3 hours here just wandering, well worth it and the large gardens are just gorgeous; and COOL in the heat of the day. Only issue with all the places is the sore neck from continually looking up.:-)
After this was a stroll to the Plaza De Espana, built for the 1929 Exhibition which now houses some government offices. The tiling once again was beautiful.
By now it was 4pm and someone was demanding lunch which we diligently delivered with obligatory tapas and vino in a cute square before retiring to the hotel a a well deserved siesta.
Heading out again at 8 for dinner, more tapas and vino, we had good intentions to go and see flamenco, but it didn't happen, maybe in Barcelona? In the end just leisurely tapas, vino and sherry before evening walk around the various Plaza's and retiring to bed. Tomorrow, train to Cordoba
The rants and ravings of a guy who has a love of Tasmania, golf, wine, food and photography. My wife Jane is an amazing textile artist/quilter (http://quiltingjane.blogspot.com.au/ ) and we have two great kids who one day will leave home, hopefully.
