Barcelona Day 13, 7th September 2013

Not early, not late start to the day hoping Barcelona is a little more friendly. Greg skies but on the metro into the city and then onto the passage De Garcia which has Gaudis Casa Batlio, Casa LLeo Morera, Casa Amatiler and Casa Mila known as la Pedrera. Beautiful buildings but not quite as inspiring as I expected. One of those times I think when expectation is greater than reality, oh well still good to see them.
On to the bus again and off to the Pable Espanyol which is a village built for the 1929 expo that was not knocked down and now houses artisans and restaurants. A pleasant time if not inspiring. A great lunch here however.
On to the bus and off to Fundacio Joan Miro, the permanent collection of Miro's art works. Brilliant, superb, beautiful, inspiring. Finally something to get excited about in Barcelona. Spent a few hours here and would love to visit again.
Now the rain comes down and heavily, maybe a sign about Barcelona.:-)
Gave up on seeing anything else and just headed to the city and found a lovely bar for tapas and vino. Then metro back to the apartment, grabbing some baguettes, ham, cheese and vino for a quiet evening before train to Pamplona in the morning, can't say I'll ever be returning to Barcelona.
They say there are people that like Madrid or Barcelona and I know which one I am.:-)
PS, getting to love Rioja though, and thats only in the glass.

Gaudi
And again
Even the lamp posts
And the seats

Back to Gaudi
And again
