Bordeaux Day 19, 13th September 2013

It was a leisurely start to today, brekky in bed followed by some caffe latte at a nearby market. Then on our different ways as Jane went shopping while I attended a 2 hour Bordeaux wine tasting.
After this we had lunch in the park, bread, cheese, paste etc and WATER. :-) . Stopped at little cafe for a coffee and broke the rule of never eat at white table clothed restauarants; bloody €11.40 for 2 coffees. Wont hear the last of that mistake. It was then back to the tourist office to catch a bus tour to Sauterne and Graves for the afternoon. We both really enjoyed this tour which took us only to two wineries/vineyards but both were excellent and at both ends of the spectrum. Old world sauterne Cru deArche Pugneau and new world graves Chateau Carbonneux a Grand Cru. Great fun and got back to Bordeaux at 7pm.
It was then champagne in the hotel room before heading out for dinner.
What a great dinner. Went to a little restaurant 'La Table Bordelaise' recommended by some Australian's on the tour. Brilliant food, great service and wine. My dessert was the pick of meals for so long; pear sorbet and pear liqueur. Brilliant. Will attempt to make some when I get home, if  we ever return that is. .:-)  3 courses, 2 bottles wine, all for 52 euros, can't beat that, especially when food was sooooo good.
Then walk around the city to take some night shots and back to the hotel to finish off the last of our Champagne and Bordeaux before leaving tomorrow. Have really enjoyed Bordeaux and would highly recommend a few days here for anyone.
Oh well morning here tomorrow and then on to Tours for a few days. Getting too close to the end for me. :-(
