On the road tay, as we finally leave Spain for France. Was brighter this morning in Bilbao which was a pity as we were leaving on a 9.30 bus for 70 minutes to San Sebastian which looks a really pretty seaside town, but for us is just a 2 hour stop over. Jane insists we will return here. Bit of fun at the train station with one of the staff who kept on counting down the trains for us until the one to Hendaye arrived. Quick trip there before another hour wait for the train to Dax. Confusion as it appears we catch a train to Dax and then wait for an hour for the train leaving Hendaye an hour after ours, hmmmm. Anyway get on and play by ear. Train guard was good when we pointed this out when nearly at Dax and he said don't both changing, stay on board to Bordeaux, loving the French already.:-)
Arrived at Bordeaux about 5.30 after fun day of travel, really enjoy the train. This is a big and beautiful city with over 1 million inhabitants. Also arrived in first week of uni so all the students out and about by the river pranking, really good feel. Booked into hotel and then off on foot to keep Madame fed and watered. Also booked bordeaux tour and winery visits, all planned. Glass of bubbles at one bar then onto another for food and wine tasting. Finally evening walk around town and early night .10pm :-)
The rants and ravings of a guy who has a love of Tasmania, golf, wine, food and photography. My wife Jane is an amazing textile artist/quilter (http://quiltingjane.blogspot.com.au/ ) and we have two great kids who one day will leave home, hopefully.
