Tours Day 20, 14th September 2013

Funny day today. Up and packed early before hitting the streets to see the markets. Bit disappointing as mostly second hand and  crap stuff, no craft as we expected. Afterwards, coffee and walk around before a leisurely picnic lunch in the park. Then back to hotel to collect bags and off to the train station to catch the train to Tours.
Lovely ride to Tours however left pleasant Bordeaux and arrived in really wet and dreary Tours. Amazing scenery on the way with really pretty corn and sunflower fields. Still can't believe how much corn and sunflower is grown here and in Spain. No wheat, barley etc, just corn and sunflowers.
Met old lady on the trip who we had to assist get off and onto the right connections as she was having a few issues. French but been living in America (Nevada) for a long time but didn't seem to be comprehending everything. Had a bandage on the head so this may have been an issue but got her onto the final leg where people where picking her up at the other end, .. Hopefully.
Now in Tours and no photos today, sorry as just wet, wet, wet. Gorgeous city though and we are in the old section again, which is a collection of Gothic, medieval and Tudor. Absolutely brilliant architecture. Will supply images tomorrow as the weather is meant to improve. Got to the tourist depot and booked a tour to Villandary and some wineries so all good.
Hotel very cute, almost romantic some would say and after getting supplies off to dinner and more food, not sure if the skin can stretch much more. Nice meal and vino before returning to the hotel and some well earned rest.
New day tomorrow and hopefully better weather.
